Another beautiful gift

A co-worker made this gorgeous quilt in green and purple for my birthday. Of course, as soon as I got home, the kitties played tunnels with it. When I tried to fold it up and tuck it away, they decided it was their new sleeping spot on the dining room table!

A pretty cookie someone made for a party I recently went to.

Kitties in the snow

As a birthday present to myself, I took the kitties out to play in the snow this morning. They are usually pretty good - they never go very far. Today, they tip-toed around in the snow, shaking their paws every three seconds. They sniffed it, they touched it, they walked backwards - but they didn't even consider coming back inside. I had to enlist my husband to help lure them back in. Now they yowl at the door, wanting to go back outside.

Dinner for three

Sophie and Pip decided to join Albie's mom for dinner now that we actually have a dining room table. Then Sophie fell asleep on a placemat after dinner...

Boy, ripping up carpets is fun!!!
I like to eat it and hide underneath it.

But the whole thing is VERY exhausting...

A bad mom

Sophie spent about half an hour today stuck between our outside door and our screen door. The space is about three inches, but apparently big enough to fit a skinny cat.

When I went to close the outside door, I simply did not see her. It was dark, she is mostly black. And she hadn't even been on the main floor for hours, so I had no reason to look for her. Apparently, she had been sitting right inside the door - in the dark - just hoping it would open so she could go outside.

The small thump didn't even make me realize anything was wrong. I turned on the outside light to see what may have been on our patio - there was nothing.

As I sat back down to watch "Say Yes to the Dress," I heard some distant meowing.

"We're all down here," I yelled. "Just come join us."

Pip, our other watch cat, was sound asleep on his tower. Well, if he's not too worried, I'm not too worried, I thought.

As the show was over and I got up - slowly - t0 get some water, I heard the distant meowing again. It sounded tiny, and very sad. I walked toward the kitchen and heard it again. Strange.

Then I ran over to the back door and pulled it open, and out jumped a small cat - scared but unscathed!

Uh-oh, I thought. PETA will definitely make a visit to our house now.

Abusing stuffed toys

What happened to Floppy? I asked myself as I got up this morning. The stuffed duck was laying there on the floor, his neck-tie several feet away. Last night, Floppy had been on the couch. Then the prime suspect entered the room, and casually walked across the crime scene...

Straws are exiting

Knitting interrupted

Today I was trying to finish a scarf I started knitting well before Christmas. I sat down to watch the season finale of "The Bachelor" (very dramatic!), and I dug out my yarn and needles from their safe spot high up in my closet.

Less than a minute later, Pip jumped up on the couch and started chewing the yarn. I pushed him away. He started pawing the needles. I pushed him away. He grabbed the entire ball of yarn in his mouth and tried walking away with it. Again, I pushed him away.

Pip finally settled about four inches away from me. I just picked up the needles again, when Sophie jumped up - right on top of the already knitted part of the scarf - and settled in as if this was the one and only spot where she would be able to sleep.

I looked at Pip and said "really, this is all YOUR fault." He got up and moved closer, until he was actually on top of the yarn, and settled in for the evening.

So I watched the entire three hours of "The Bachelor" - but I didn't get much knitting done at all. Perhaps by next Christmas the scarf will be finished.
